Canva Connect APIs provide OAuth-based access to assets, designs and exports. Autofill generates variations of brand templates and is available to Pro, Teams and Enterprise users following the 21 September 2026 update. Private integrations require Enterprise; public integrations require review.

Choose Canva Connect when your workflow must work with Canva accounts, existing designs or brand templates. Check Autofill access for your actual user and the integration approval route. Canva is not an Enterprise-only API.

When to try Pikstrapi

The designer chooses typography, composition and imagery. Marketing then needs a version for each offer without recreating the layout. Use that handoff as the trial: identify which decisions must remain with the designer and which values another person should be able to change.

Start with a copy of a representative design. Keep your current workflow while you compare results; a useful trial does not require migrating your entire library.

Export an approved design as PDF Standard or PDF Print with Flatten PDF disabled. Check that you have permission to reuse its elements and fonts.
Import the PDF into Pikstrapi and compare text, images, shapes and fonts. Review unsupported effects, name the layers that will change and save the template.
Generate short and long text variants through CSV or an API request. Check the downloaded file before preparing a batch: new font characters or complex clipping may need adjustments.

Moving from Canva starts with your design and field mapping. Existing template IDs and API payloads are not interchangeable. This example uses Pikstrapi’s own API contract.

Prepare one reusable design.

Import your Canva PDF and review its editable elements.
Name a text layer title, save the template and copy its UUID from the API section in your account.
Replace YOUR_TEMPLATE_ID. Send this JSON with POST to /api/v1/templates/generate-image, Content-Type: application/json and your API key in x-api-key.

Use the API base URL shown in your account and store your key in server credentials. A successful immediate request returns the PNG file bytes, not a JSON image URL.

Test a long title and a content update before preparing a batch. For automated Open Graph images, start with a 1200 × 630 template and connect its output to your website’s social metadata.

For deferred delivery, use mode: "deferred" and a publicly reachable webhookUrl. Configure a webhook signing secret in your account if you need HMAC verification. AI template generation validates its own JSON and can retry corrections; failed generation restores its reserved AI allowance before a template is saved.

A question before switching

How can I automate Canva designs without Canva Autofill?

Export a PDF from Canva, import it in Pikstrapi and review the supported editable objects. Name the changing layers, save the template and send new values through CSV or the Pikstrapi API. Import is file-based: it does not use Canva Connect or preserve every element. Canva Autofill remains an option for eligible Pro, Teams and Enterprise users.
